Mr. Peterson has, since 1967, served as a Structural Engineering Consultant to a large number of Owners, Contractors, Architects and other Engineering Firms.

His experience includes a broad range of structural engineering involvement in a large variety of projects in both the private and public sectors.  These include new projects and alterations and remodels to existing structures.  Represented are the foundations and superstructures for industrial and commercial buildings, warehouses, mill buildings, office buildings, educational and health care facilities and residential developments.  Also included is the structural design of marine facilities, pile foundations, retaining walls, bulkheads, cofferdams, floating and pile supported docks, bridges, ramps and walkways, machinery support frames and equipment and transmission towers.

Mr. Peterson has worked closely with other engineers in the design of public works projects such as water and sewage treatment plants, reservoirs, and swim and recreational facilities.  Experience in this area also includes projects involving various configurations of subterranean and above-grade pump stations, vaults, caissons, headgates and diversion structures.

On existing structures, Mr. Peterson has evaluated gravity and lateral load carrying capabilities and designed repairs and alterations for extending the life of structures.  Removal of walls and columns and upgrading to higher load capacities and current code requirements are among his assignments.

In the course of these projects, Mr. Peterson has gained a thorough knowledge of all common building materials such as wood, steel, concrete and masonry.  He has also been involved in structural design using aluminum, glass, plastic, stainless steel and other less common materials.
