St. Brides Farm

The private equine facility farm in Upperville, Virginia desired new custom facilities to be constructed incorporating an arena, barn, hay building, shop building, and groom’s quarters. PSE is proud to have provided the structural engineering design for this world class equestrian facility, portions of which won a Building of the Year award from the National Frame Building Association (NFBA) and the Judges’ award for Best Engineering. Each building was custom designed and included a unique foundation design to mitigate the existing poor soil conditions, consisting of deep shrink swell soils. The horse barn and equestrian office building were recognized to represents one off the aesthetically and functionally exceptional barns in the area. What made them particularly significant is that they were designed and built with sustainable wood species, as many recycled elements as possible and energy efficient technology.
